I provide a range of writing and editorial services – development editing, copy-editing, proofreading, indexing – for online and print publication. I specialise in working directly with authors, especially independent/self-publishing novelists and academic writers, and I can advise on publishing routes and developing author platforms.
I’m skilled in formatting and page layout, particularly in MS Word (I used to work as a graphic designer).
Subjects include: fiction (adult), any genre except fantasy; fiction in translation (English); narrative non-fiction; English literature (especially 18th and 19th century; modernist); biography (especially literary), autobiography and memoir; history (British and Irish); publishing history; literary studies; women’s studies and writing.
From an initial discussion/e-mail correspondence, we will decide together what level of work you need. It is helpful if you can send me a sample of what you need done, and an indication of the number of words involved. I will then give you a quotation and suggest a timescale.
I’m quite happy to edit or proof a small sample free of charge (and with no obligation) so you can see what I can do. For indexing projects, I can send examples of my previous work.
